Thierry Cohen’s Villes éteintes / Darkened Cities
by fosco lucarelli
Thierry Cohen is a professional photographer since 1985 and a pioneer in digital photography.
“Since 2010, from megacities to deserts, he has mainly worked to achieve: “Darkened Cities” giving back stars to cities for the viewer and raising public awareness to the problem of light pollution.”
These pictures seem to depict a rather quiet post-apocalyptic scenario without the usual dose of ruins and desolation. In an alternative, lifeless present, electrical energy has gone and the cities are framed just before nature is about to reconquer the anthropic landscape.
Villes Eteintes, by Thierry Cohen will be exhibited in Paris from Nov 8th until Nov 22nd at Galerie Esther Woerdehoff.

Beautiful and eerie.
Welcome to 2030
Where can I purchase a lithographic or serigraphic copy of these? Is there a website specifically for reproductions?
Brad: I guess the best way is to ask directly to the gallery that represents him (Galerie Esther Woerdehoff).
The website is: http://www.ewgalerie.com/
i can’t stop looking at these as they are so beautiful and stunning, and feeling saddened that i will never get to see such nocturnal splendor here in new york, where i live. the eastern seaboard is no place for viewing the skies. sigh!
