Federico Infante is a Chilean artist, currently living in New York.
From the presentation on his website:
The reflexive psychology in Federico’s paintings is based on an intuitive painting process. In every image, the viewer can see the painting’s first layer, the beginning of the artwork. A consecutive and methodical accumulation of layers comes next. This part of the work resembles an abstract interaction with the image similar to what the Abstract Expressionists did. However, this is how Federico searches for a suggestive and fertile atmosphere that gradually brings the idea of the painting into focus. A character or environment will appear; a figure will define the meaning of this abstract process. All of this leads him to find a connection to or dialogue with his immediate surroundings. This reveals a reflexive and suggestive introspection, a beautifully constructed image that lets the audience find themselves in Federico’s imaginary landscape.
