Goedele Peeters (1960-), is a Antwerp-based Belgian artist, working on a wide variety of media related to printmaking (from intaglio and lithography to relief and artist books).
Her images recall memories of travel destinations, usually through photos and sketches of her trips in the countryside or in the city. In this way she distilles the essence of the objects she pictured: bright sunlight during the afternoon, the chill of wintertime, a courtyard, the reflection of water.
“With my method , I feel akin to a poet who works from memory and deletes words to come to the most essential phrases”, she explains. ” I try , even though it’s a small size, to achieve each time a monumentality.”
