Painter and designer Nathalie Du Pasquier (also on Socks), has been one of the founding members of the design movement Memphis and, in particular, the youngest one. Even after the group dissolved in 1987, she never stopped producing iconic drawings over the years. Through her abundant production, she has explored textures, patterns, volumes and in the last years has signed collections for big brands like HAY and American Apparel.
Here’s an example on how varied her production can be: a little 2009 collection of small domestic monuments created by the assembling of parts of everyday objects and sculptural elements. The linear drawings are made with pen or pencil and enriched with simple textures; they remind casual encounters of objects on a surface. The black and white drawings are something different from the usually colorful compositions and patterns Nathalie Du Pasquier is famous for but remain playful experiments with the only aim to please the eye.
