Graphic and industrial designer, illustrator and painter, Nathalie Du Pasquier (Bordeaux, 1957) was one of the original co-founders of Italian design and architecture collective Memphis (see also our previous posts dedicated to Gerald Taylor and Tiger Takeishi). With Memphis, she contributed designs for textiles, carpets, plastic laminates, furniture, and objects, until she decided painting was her main activity since 1987.
After some years of semi-oblivion, the dedicated media is today regaining interest in her design work (along with a more general rediscovery of Memphis and postmodern design from the 1980’s).
Following is a selection of her recent paintings (some ideal crossover between Purism à la Le Corbusier and Giorgio Morandi‘s ordinary bottles paintings) and the very similar constructions.
