Founder of Popular Science Magazine, Edward Livingston Youmans (1821-1887) was a scientific writer, editor, lecturer and also a renowned author of beautifully illustrated textbooks, like this “Chemical Atlas: Or, The Chemistry of Familiar Objects” (1854).
