Fragments of Decay and Dystopia in the Comics of Liam Cobb

April 1, 2015 by Fosco Lucarelli 1 Comment

In Liam Cobb’s work the vignettes, the segments of stories, the disparate panels, all seem to represent scattered instants of a yet undefined dystopian novel. The end of the world is the subject. Rich illustrations of urban decay, drab landscapes, and witty one-liners from lonely characters are the fragments of a universe that this talented illustrator is slowly composing. Here’s a selection, starting from a short story titled “Death of a Crow“, a subtle reference to a classic bizarre ad from the 80’s (Kia-Ora – Its Too Orangey for Crows!)
