Inside Outside: Illustrations by Michael Kirkham

August 9, 2015 by Fosco Lucarelli Leave a Comment

Michael Kirkham is an illustrator living in Edinburgh and working internationally. In many of his works he shows a specific interest in the built environment and uses techniques which allow him to draw interiors and exteriors scenes at once. Axonometric projections, perspective sections and the co-presence of different points of view are just a part of these design tools.
Domestic environments with a focus on human behaviour in the space and a glimpse of satire are also recurring themes.

His technique alternates flat coloured scenes with black and white linear drawings, very detailed and textured landscapes with depiction of small objects carefully arranged in the space.
