Seokyong Shim (soquu.d) studied architecture in South Korea and is now enrolled in a program for Graphic Design in London. His graphic projects join digital and analog techniques and make interesting detournements of conventional architectural representation turning it into a narrative tools. Sections, axonometric projections and plans are enriched with comics-like figures which inhabit the scene within the framework of technical drawings.
I am interested in illustration and drawing, that deal with ordinary things, and sometimes with an element of space and architecture. I believe that everyday objects could be a subject matter of art that can be seen through my own unique perspective. In so doing, I endeavor to find a style that is uniquely mine; a style that expresses both my architectural background as well as my inner sensibility as an illustrator.
