Reinventing Suburban Reality: “Constructed” by Pawel Nolbert

October 24, 2016 by Mariabruna Fabrizi Leave a Comment

“Constructed” is a series of photos by Polish graphic designer, illustrator, and web designer Pawel Nolbert. A selection of the artist’s own travel photos retouched and implemented with colorful graphical insertions in order to create his own “perfect version of reality”.

The new reality is a composition of planes, lines, and volumes which underline some visual patterns already existing in the original shots or superimpose a new order to the scenes. New meanings are provided to apparently ordinary urban settings thanks to the filter of the author’s own imagination.

We construct our reality in our own way. We do that every day on our instagrams, blogs and other carefully curated outlets.
Knowing that the world around us doesn’t look like this, we somehow want to believe that all those often extremely filtered and post-processed images in our IG stream are actually the real thing.

We never recall things exactly as they happened. We remember them in our personal way. One, true version of reality doesn’t exist. Pawel Nolbert
