The Architecture of the Workspace: Axonometric Drawings by Peter Judson

April 10, 2020 by Mariabruna Fabrizi Leave a Comment

Peter Judson is a British designer and illustrator. (Already featured, on Socks).  For his project “Hyundai card”, commissioned by design studio Made Thought, he developed a series of white axonometric drawings on black background, carefully describing portions of cities and workspaces all over the world. When the images are seen from far they resemble pure abstract compositions and only reveal their urban nature on a more attentive analysis.

The same graphic technique is applied to analyse design pieces, office furniture, architectural spaces and construction details revealing similar underlying geometries at different scales. The drawings fill the space of the page or float in the middle of it, reminding van Doesburg and van Esteren’s “Counter-constructions” turned black and white.

All the lines in the drawings have the same thickness and only simple graphic textures are added to express the volumes.
