As a follow up to Deconcrete‘s and our post about a more critical use of BBC tool ‘How big really?‘, another interesting approach would consist in adding a further layer to the map.
It’s no news that the power structures use to alter data, influencing the public appraisal of historical and current events: through media the public perception of events is altered in a way facts are either hidden or overvalued depending on the political or economical need.
An instrument of comparison between the real physical occupation of an historical event and that perceived by the public through media, (overlaying scientifically proven and altered data) would raise way more the controversial issues that such a powerful tool currently misses.
