Tiger Tateishi, The Vanishing City (Milan)

November 22, 2011 by Fosco Lucarelli 2 Comments

A late seventies wordless comic by Tiger Tateishi, who was working at the Ettore Sottsass architecture and design firm, at the time of this painting.

This is arguably one of the best single page comic I have ever seen.

“The city being wiped away, Hiroshima-style, by the emptiness emanating from the homeless guy is unmistakably Milan, although I can’t quite place the neighbourhood”, writes Michelangelo of Il Giornale Nuovo.
