Ultimate Disaster and Other Drawings by Isabel Seliger

July 26, 2015 by Mariabruna Fabrizi Leave a Comment

Isabel Seliger is a visual artist who lives and works in Berlin. Her works range from colourful illustrations to short comics, to black and white drawings with a surreal twist. Many of the images display her fascinating research in textures with inspirations borrowed from the natural world, abstract patterns and minimal iterations of lines. Some of the depicted scenes appear like fragments of sci-fi tales, with the human being represented as a small subject in contemplation of a larger universe lying just beyond a frame. Deeply evocative in their well balanced compositions, these images condense the artist’s recurring themes: infinite and almost untouchable landscapes, human figure as a static observer in a meditative state, carefully proportioned constructions revealing a state of incompleteness.
