Anatomy of The Line: Drawings by Esjieun Kim

June 1, 2016 by Mariabruna Fabrizi Leave a Comment

Korean artist and architect Esjieun Kim is interested in the relationship between drawing, movement, and space. The medium which operates the synthesis among the three subject is the “line” which Esjieun Kim explores relentlessly through her paper works and her light sculptures.

Her grandfather transmitted her the passion for the art of calligraphy while the beautiful letters her mother writes her every month also influenced her sense of elegantly conquering a paper surface.

Ephemeral performances are transcribed on paper through a reduced vocabulary of signs and words assuming a strong visual presence.
