Dutch artist and graphic designer Louis Reith produces works through a variety of different media ranging from collages to wood sculptures, to paper objects and ink on paper works, always keeping an interest in simple abstract shapes and their combination as well as in the materiality of the supports.
For the series Nachttuin, he superposed black and white abstract themes to black and white photographs found in old books. In these mixed media works, the graphic elements reveal the pictures’ hidden order, their compositional organization, or simply add a layer of ambiguous meaning to the image.
In his prints, he often employs stark, stylized shapes on an old-looking paper playing on the contrast between the contemporary looking sharpness of his combinations and the support.
His main interests revolve around printed works and since 2012 he owns a publishing company, Jordskred, promoting independent art zines, beautiful prints and music.
