Kate Shepherd is a visual artist who lives and works in New York City. Her paintings, prints, and silkscreens evoke Josef Albers, minimalism and formalism. Her work combines a sense for perspective and geometry that is evidently in debt to draftsmanship which she first encountered in architecture and then in figurative art. As such, her works are always on the brink between representation and abstraction. On vibrant gradients of color, she paints diagrammatic lines to convey a sense of space and three-dimensionality. Images are derived both from the artist’s invention and from scenes in SketchUp.
