How Big Really?

BBC has just released “How Big Really?“, a site that allows for the overlay of the dimension of an event onto another geographical territory.

That means that you can choose an area of the world and grasp the real size of, let’s say, the 9/11 towers attack, or the 1969 Moon Landing.

Deconcrete suggests a lot of possible visualizations regarding less distant events, with a more critical tone:

to whom we would add:

the routes of African immigrants destined to reach the south of Italy and enter Europe;
the total size of African immigrants’ shipwrecks during the last ten years;
the total real estate possessions by the State of Vatican;
the size of Parisian riots of 2005 (to compare them to Deconcrete’s suggested London neighborhood riots of 2011);
the amount of small/medium activities closed during the economical crisis in Greece, Spain and Italy between 2009-2012.
