When the World Was Flat, Paintings by Chris Ballantyne

July 28, 2013 by Fosco Lucarelli 2 Comments

Desolate settings, impoverished suburban environments and depopulated neighborhoods are the privileged subjects in Chris Ballantyne‘s paintings.

Anyway, there is no realism here: architecture and nature seem suspended, decontextualised, characterised by and eerie sense of calm, even though a secret violence is hidden beneath the surface.
